What is Fusion Saint John Inc.?
Fusion Saint John Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that works as a networking group for young, civic-minded Greater Saint John residents who have a clear vision of the area's future as the ideal place to live, work and play.
We are part of a movement breathing new life into urban areas and lessening the negative impact of suburban sprawl. We are working to prevent the migration of educated young people to larger cities and to encourage those who have left to return to the Saint John region.
So, how does Fusion engage and retain young people in Saint John?
Fusion accomplishes this lofty goal by:
- connecting people
- providing an opportunity for the younger demographic to have a voice
- encouraging the younger demographic to get involved in their community
- helping to instill a sense of pride, belonging and familiarity in Saint John
We figure it's a little harder to leave when you're invested in and passionate about your city!
How and when was Fusion started?
Fusion was started in 2004 by four Saint John residents who saw a need for change in our community: Stephanie Bell, Shane Goguen, Mara Mallory and Shannon Merrifield. Since then, we've been doing our part to make Saint John a more vibrant, exciting place to live. Encouraged by the success of this Saint John initiative, Fusion Bangor launched in 2005 and Fusion Halifax followed suit in 2007.
Who can join Fusion?
Anyone with an interest in making Saint John even better, whether you're "young" or "young-at-heart"! And you don't have to live in Saint John - we serve all five municipalities in the Greater Saint John area: Rothesay, Grand-Bay/Westfield, St. Martins, City of Saint John, and Quispamsis.
